ESPN FC finally talking about the foreign player problem in MLS. Sometimes we only have 2 Americans in the starting lineup!!! So Steve Nicol is missing the obvious point. He says we have 15 American players per team. He’s clearly not analyzed the actual situation. He’s missing the fact that the foreign players are getting paid more and the rule in pro sports is when you’re paid more you play more minutes. And these foreigners aren’t better than Americans, they are just perceived as better and hyped as better by the agents. So these low quality foreign players are phasing out the Americans in the USA’s top pro soccer league. Then Nicol blames the American players for not being good enough. What a bunch of baloney. 2, 3, 4 starting Americans in the MLS is unacceptable.
